Day One
Congratulations on your new tattoo! On the first day, keep the cling film you leave the studio with on for 1-4 hours. After that, ensure you unwrap it with clean hands and gently wash the tattoo down with gentle soap and luke warm water - ensuring you remove all the vaseline and any ink/plasma build up. Pat it dry with clean kitchen roll and air/wear loose clothing. Be patient and let your skin breathe! This initial care is crucial to prevent infection and promote healing.

help it heal
The healing process can vary from person to person, generally taking 2-4 weeks for the tattoo to be visibly healed (although deeper healing happens for 3-6 months). During this time, shower your new tattoo down daily (morning and night) and pat dry with clean kitchen roll. From day 3-4 for colour or 2-3 for black and grey, add a small amount of cocoa butter to the tattoo (pea size) once it has been washed and completely dried. It is important not to moisturise your tattoo too soon or too much - less is more!

special care
Do not sunbathe, sunbed or submerge your new tattoo under water for 2 weeks (avoid swimming and long baths). Avoid rigerous exercise and alcohol for the first 2-4 days after getting a new tattoo and air it or wear loose clothing so not to irritate it. It's important not to pick or itch your tattoo when it's healing (the itchy phase starts around day 4 or 5!) as you may cause irritation and fall out of ink!
Do not touch your new tattoo unless washing it to reduce the risk of infection. Although rare, be aware of the signs of infection (excessive redness, swelling, burning) and send me a message and/or consult a medical professional if you believe your new tattoo might be infected.
Remember, your tattoo is a work of art, and taking care of it is just as important as getting the tattoo itself!
